I'm so glad I found you! I live in Canada..I suffer from hypothyroidism, severe depression and trigeminal neuralgia. I've tried every diet under the sun. I lose but then put it all back on plus more. Since having trigeminal neuralgia my weight has gotten completely out of hand. I read the meds can make you gain rapidly. Did this happen to you? How does it affect you after surgery with the meds? I need to loose 115 pounds
I had my gastric bypass done 6 plus years ago. I had diabetes, heart disease, and pulmonary hypertension. I was also one month away from turning 66. Because of my health issues, my insurance ( Medicare) paid for my surgery. In fact, insurance companies are paying for more people to have this surgery than ever before if they have any of the obesity related diseases.
I am still following most of the diet and have added more foods to my diet. I drink the occasional diet ginger ale, maybe once a month. I prefer seafood and chicken as beef and pork are still hard to digest. The doctor said that was typical. Iโm careful about fatty foods as they still can make me nauseous. I love pasta, but it still makes me feel bloated, so I eat it rarely.
Yes, the skin sags and I would love to have surgery, but at almost 73, probably wonโt waste the money. I did have a fair hair loss and it has never come back to what it was. I do relate some of that to age as well as the surgery.
I only wish I had done this years ago. Two of my sisters and a cousin have had this all with the same doctor. If you are considering this and have any health problems, this could be the biggest help you could give yourself.
Oh, forgot!! Awesome job with this video
I had mine in 2012 and have experienced great ๐ things and โbadโ things. I would love to talk privately with you, as I certainly donโt want to deter people
Please give regular updates on your weight loss. I'm going for bariatric surgery soon and would love to follow your progress. xx

You are looking great! How much have you lost this far? My aunt, my niece and bff have all done so far,,,I now have the courage watching your story! Any update would be great! Sept 3
Excellent video, Melissa! Iโm so happy to see you doing so well! Yay!,๐๐พ๐๐๐
Youโre spot on about your concept of food and itโs role in our lives. Youโre way ahead of the game by realizing and educating yourself, getting counseling, etc. That was sorely lacking in my experience. It was my downfall. Sad, in my experience. Perfect surgery but poor recovery due to what youโve mentioned. Also make sure you get a lot of B 12 via injection and sublingual. So important. Thatโs a lifetime focus as well!. Take good care. Love you! ๐๐๐ผ
Melissa, you look fab. Youโre always so beautiful. I wish you all the best in your recovery. Concentrate on getting enough protein and you treat your tummy very gently. Like a baby! Thatโs what I was told years ago when I had the RnY. Iโm very Happy for you! Blessings and hugs. Xo, Rachel ๐๐ท๐ธ๐ถ๐ฑ๐๐
Good you are doing better. You look great, but you always do. We have a place near us that does this surgery. About 12 people at my hubs work have done it with our same insurance. My dr mentioned it to me, but I would worry about being sick after. I have had 7 in my family do it.
Thanks for being so transparent. Glad that you are doing well!
Thank you for all the information Melissa, you are look beautiful ๐๐๐
Hi dear. God bless you. ๐๐๐ฅฐ๐๐
Hey Mrs. Melissa! Thank you for the video! Prayers for continued success! You mentioned reading about how to change your mindset about eating. Do you have any suggestions about books to read? Thanks again!
You covered a lot of information very well!! I'm 15 months out from RNY and I've reached my goal weight so now I'm trying to maintain. That can be tricky too. You are doing great – keep up the great work!!!
Hi Melissa!! I learned a lot in this video! Iโm so glad everything is better now. Youโve been through a lot! I can see the happiness in your face. Youโre just beaming!! Hugs ๐ค๐
Do you have to do a liquid diet after surgery?
Iโm so happy your doing well
You are beautiful inside and out! God bless you during the rest of your journey!๐๐#59and overweight
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so glad the bad part is over. You look wonderful, and I'm sure you will hit your goal in no time.
Oh, how I can relate to no skin elasticity. I'm small, but weight has nothing to do with it. And I too nursed both girls for a year each. Hanging skin, I've got. Without a bra, I swear I'd step on my boobs!!
My mom was the same. She was 5'4, maybe 100lbs, but boy did her skin jiggle. She so kindly passed that gene to me!
Be well, my dear friend. Love and hugsโฃโค๐๐ฅฐ
My mom used to always say "Its not what you are eating. Its what is eating you"!!!!! Im glad you mentioned emotional eating….I am definately one!!! It is really something that starts in your brain! You look great!!!!
Very interesting video so thank you very much for sharing your experience with us.
I am so very happy it all worked out for you ๐
